Woodrow Wilson is one of those severely mis-remembered presidents. The man packed his cabinet with racists and got us involved in a European conflict that really didn't concern us, and his diplomatic involvement in the armistice helped sow the seeds of the most destructive state-on-state conflict in human history.
Not a great guy in my book.

If they made statist-themed adult films, Wilson could have been a great porn star.
I can't think of a better "money shot" for statists than World War I.

I get really tired of the overuse of Hitler/Nazi comparisons. You can't go 3 days without hearing a politician, a political party or news talking head compared to them.

Is he usually remembered as being a good president? Obviously I don't hang out with the right people... who talk about old presidents... intelligently....

A few things which I'm aware of regards wilson:
-signed into law the Federal Reserve Act?
-Ramped up and/or started the income tax
-WWI...got us into "The War to End All Wars" and even better..."To make the world safe for democracy"...as in destroying the existing political systems in Europe
In my mind, that last point makes him a worthy pre-cursor to GW Bush

I think the Federal Reserve Act was passed by Roosevelt, or whoever it was that was president immediately before him. I'm fairly sure the Fed started in Dec. 1915; I can't remember where I read that. It's amazing how much [almost] useless knowledge is in my head.

from wikipedia:
The Federal Reserve Act (ch. 6, 38 Stat. 251, enacted December 23, 1913, 12 U.S.C. ch.3) is an Act of Congress that created and set up the Federal Reserve System, the central banking system of the United States of America, and granted it the legal authority to issue Federal Reserve Notes (now commonly known as the U.S. Dollar) and Federal Reserve Bank Notes as legal tender. The Act was signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson.
I knew this from reading G Edward Griffin's Creature from Jeckyl Island...the first part of which reads like a mystery thriller.
The entire book deals with the foundation of the Fed, per my memory.

Interesting. I must be thinking of something else; now I'll be racking my brain for the next week trying to figure out what it is or where I read that. Thanks for the correction.
