As a technology worker, I've often felt this way. I knew many displaced technologists in the early 2000s who couldn't find a job because the only jobs for technologists were entry level. Who are you to tell a senior programmer who cut his teeth on mainframes, "sorry, we can hire an H1B visa worker for half your salary that will work overtime because he can't quit or else he will be deported." This is beyond ridiculous. It is quite obvious that they are not hiring these folks because there are no qualified candidates. They are hiring these folks because there are no qualified candidates who want to take a $30K or more pay cut.

This needs to stop, like 10 years ago. The H1B visa program has always been a bought and paid for law that allows large tech companies like Microsoft to bring in immigrant labor and drive down the prevailing wage of qualified technologists who already live here.
