Just curious...

Today, I read an article in WSJ that state pension funds are in trouble---no surprise there.  But, their solutions have me baffled.

It appears that the solutions are to put more into bonds and less into stocks.  Also, to increase the age at which one could retire.  Hohummm... ::)

I'm just curious why these so-called experts have never looked into something like the PP.  Am I missing something?

Many pension funds are poorly managed. Most would be better served by firing the active money managers they use now and just using index funds. That would be a huge improvement over how many are managed now. But then the pension managers couldn't justify their large salaries and investment management fees.

Thank you.  I'm sure you are correct.  Just wish I could pull out my contributions and invest on my own.  Can't do that, so I am at their mercy ::)
