11 Lies About the Federal Reserve -- Refuted

The other day the Huffington Post ran an article by a Bonnie Kavoussi called “11 Lies About the Federal Reserve.”? And you’ll never guess: these aren’t lies or myths spread in the financial press by Fed apologists. These are “lies”? being told by you and me, opponents of the Fed. Bonnie Kavoussi calls us “Fed-haters.”? So she, a Fed-lover, is at pains to correct these alleged misconceptions. She must stop us stupid ingrates from poisoning our countrymen’s minds against this benevolent array of experts innocently pursuing economic stability.

Why in the world would anyone take what they read in Huffington Post seriously? I honestly believe the Soviet Era Pravda would be a more accurate news source. I'm not joking.

They say there's no truth in 'News' (Novosty) and no news in 'Truth' (Pravda).
We need something catchy like that for Huffington. I do read it, though, and I enjoy it.

Craig,

Could you summarize what you hate so much about huffington post?

I really have no exposure to it other than listening to "Arrriana Huffingtoooon" on tv from time-to-time.

I don't read much there. The articles I've seen however have often been shrill leftist opinion pieces with distorted facts. Pretty much par for the course for many news sources, but Huffington seems to take it to the next level of Fantasyland.

I don't read much news any more to tell you the truth. I think most of it is pointless and the biases are rampant. I like these quotes actually:

"I do not take a single newspaper, nor read one a month, and I feel myself infinitely the happier for it." - Thomas Jefferson

"Advertisements contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper." - Thomas Jefferson

Today if I read an article I will check the first paragraph or so and then skip immediately to the comments. The comments today are where you find the real content, IMO.

In fact, if I go to a site that normally allows comments but has decided to shut them off for a particular article, I just assume the entire article is a lie.

HuffPo actually has quite an active comments section. However, it's made up of the most brainless type of liberals and a surprising amount of libertarian trolls who bait them. Full disclosure: I may or may not have been one at one point.  ::)
