We're Not Gonna Take It

I wonder if all the conservatives of yore realize what idiots they now look like in hindsight over their aplomb at the time.  Then again, with the moral decay all around us, maybe they were right.  They may have won some battles, but lost the war?

Twisted Sister’s angsty anthem was one of the most controversial songs of the '80s. Now it airs in birth-control ads and at Paul Ryan rallies. A look at the hit’s transformation.

Wasn't Tipper Gore one of the leaders of the anti-rock efforts of that era?

Ryan has so many mental inconsistencies he's like a psychiatrists wet dream.  His favorite band is Rage Against the Machine.  Has he even read the Rage lyrics?  Rage is pretty much against everything the GOP and even the Democrats stand for.  A huge focus of their musical career has been around educating the world on the evils of American imperialism, whether it's stripping native Americans of their land or fomenting military coups in foreign lands.  They also seriously Rage against organized Christian religion, AM talk radio, and the hypocrisy of religious people that like to start wars.

Vietnow lyrics

Turn on tha radio, nah fuck it turn it off
Fear is your only god on the radio
Nah fuck it, turn it off
Turn it off, turn on tha radio, nah fuck it turn it off
Fear is your only god on the radio
Nah fuck it, your saviour's my guillotine, crosses and kerosene

Merge on tha networks, slangin' nerve gas
Up jump tha boogie then bang, let 'em hang
While tha paraniod try ta stuff tha void
Let's capture this AM mayhem
Undressed, and blessed by tha Lord
Tha power pendulum swings by tha umbilical cord
Shock around tha clock, from noon 'til noon
Men grabbin' they mics, and stuff 'em into tha womb
Terror's tha product ya push
Well I'm a truth addict, oh shit I gotta headrush
Sheep tremble an here come tha votes
Thrown from tha throat, new cages an scapegoats
Undressed and blessed by tha Lord
Tha same devil that ran around Managua wit a sword
Check out tha new style that Ollie found
I tune in wit a bullet ta shut down tha devil sound
Shut down tha devil sound
Tha program of Vietnow
Shut down tha devil sound

Turn on the radio, nah fuck it turn it off
Fear is your only god on the radio
Nah fuck it, turn it off
Turn it off, turn on the radio, nah fuck it turn it off
Fear is your only god on the radio
Nah fuck it, your saviour's my guillotine, crosses and kerosene

Flex tha cerebellum, fire, uh!
Somebody gotta shell 'em
These evil angels lists, hittin' tha AM playlist
Paid ta say this
That one inhuman, illegal, single woman
Tha one wit out a room
The transmissions wippin' our backs
Yeah, comin' down like bats from Stacy Coon
Terror's tha product ya push
Well I'm a truth addict, oh shit I gotta headrush
Tha sheep tremble an here come tha votes
Thrown from tha throat, new cages and scapegoats
One caution tha mics a detonator unwound
Ta shut down tha devil sound
Shut down tha devil sound
Check tha heads bow in vietnow
Shut down tha devil sound

Is all tha world jails and churches?
Is all tha world jails and churches?
Is all tha world jails and churches?
Is all tha world jails and churches?
Is all tha world jails and churches?

Radio, nah fuck it, turn it off
Fear is your only god on tha radio
Nah fuck it, turn it off
Turn it off, turn on tha radio, nah fuck it turn it off
Fear is your only god on tha radio
Nah fuck it, your saviour's my guillotine, crosses and kerosene

Fear is your, fear is your, fear is your only god
Fear is your, fear is your, fear is your only god
Fear is your, fear is your, fear is your only god
Fear is your, fear is your, fear is your only god

Tipper Gore is a b*tch who got the parental advisory warnings applied to music, that was basically censorship, because then conservative Christian groups decided to boycott stores that carried anything with the label, so most stores wouldn't carry anything with the label on it.  In a society that has the first amendment, any such censorship should be repugnant to all of us.  I'm not particularly fond of rap music that talks about bitches and hos, but I still don't think we should censor it.

That's better than Strom Thurmond.  Thurmond spent his whole career as an unapologetic racist, stating in opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that: "all the laws of Washington and all the bayonets of the Army cannot force the Negro into our homes, into our schools, our churches and our places of recreation and amusement."

After Thurmond's death in 2003, it was revealed that when he was 22 he had gotten his family's 16 year old black maid pregnant (which would have been statutory rape, I believe), resulting in the birth of a mixed race child that Thurmond never publicly acknowledged during his life, but to whom he provided financial support.

My question for Thurmond would have been if black people are not good enough to share your homes, schools, or churches, how is it that the underage female ones are good enough to share your bed?

Now that's some hypocrisy for ya' azz.
