Question about buying long-term individual bonds in my Roth IRA.

I am interested in buying individual bonds instead of ETFs/mutual funds for my Roth IRA with TD Ameritrade. My question is what are the tax consequences of this? I know investments that you have in a Roth IRA are supposed to be tax-free, but does this include individual bonds as well? There was one bond I was looking at, but on the page under tax status it says "taxable", so I'm not sure what this means. HELP!
