what options for Canadian pp cash portion?

Hi,
For Canadian cash portion, what do you think of using CLF?

I read short term government bonds could be used for cash. But I notice CLF went down about 1% in the last 3 months although 1% loss seems not too bad as it pays coupons. Is it not a good substitute for high interest savings?
Would you use some US high interest savings account or US mmf for cash portion?
What else can I use for cash portion in Canada?
