Blogger says he's been investing in the PP for 35 years now

I ran across a history/philosophy blogger's site, and he recently posted about the most important books in his life. In the money category he listed Harry Browne's "Why The Best-Laid Investment Plans Usually Go Wrong." He goes on to say that he wanted to retire early and did so at 45 (he's 67 now). He also says he's followed Browne's PP idea for 35 years and pretty much ignored the rest of the book on variable portfolios. I was thinking he might be a good podcast interview. Anyone ever hear of anyone else with a long-term PP?

That guy needs to check his calendar; it was only 30 years ago that the PP first appeared in print as one of several portfolios in "Inflation Proofing Your Investments".
Browne may have written about the permanent portfolio before 1981, but I don't think he did.
The guy probably means that he has been using the PP for a long time, and if he has I would love for him to join us here and tell us about his experiences.

Did HB publish a newsletter before his book came out? Maybe the guy was a subscriber.

Oh sure (1974-1997), but in the 1970s his newsletter talked about inflation and gold. The PP concept came later.

I just e-mailed him. So, hopefully he'll join in.
