Society’s veneer has gotten thinner

I’m really disgusted by the self published reactions of many young leftists to the murder of Charlie Kirk. Untold numbers of people taking to X etc to say, “now how about Ben Shapiro”, or JK Rowling, or others.

First off, it almost goes without saying that social media is a cancer. The problem is that it feeds the mob mentality that we all have somewhere inside us.

If Kirk had been a leftist, cities would be burning. So I don’t think the problem is symmetrical. Maybe that’s not relevant. But I think it must be.

I’m discouraged. Massively. Much more so by the reactions than the act itself.

I don’t see a way out.

I agree with everything you said.
I’m appalled that people increasingly see murder as a solution.
Luigi Mangione, and now this. It may just be the beginning.

Surprised by Socialist depravity? Millions of children damaged by masks during visual development and school closures. Locked in with abusers. Seniors forced to spend their last couple years in isolation ON TOP of how bad nursing home isolation normally is. Gyms closed, millions never got back into the habit. Depression from lack of exercise and socialization mistreated as "long covid". Cancer screenings canceled. AA/NA meetings canceled. Small business closed, Walmart open (with reduced hours causing more crowding). 30% inflationary wage cuts (the actual objective).

Collectivists/communists would do it all again tomorrow to get the boot back on the neck of conservatives

Yes, Luigi too, that's a good point. For some reason the reactions to that one didn't resonate as much with me at the time but they should have. I didn't sympathize with their motivations, but maybe I was too busy to pay enough attention.

Boglerdude, you raise a good point by calling them socialists and communists. I think the latter is the correct term here. I'm saying "leftists" in an effort to fit into the acceptable framework, but really the organized left are now essentially communists, with all that it implies. As Charlie Kirk would have said, "Prove me wrong."

The problem is that no one takes you seriously if you call someone a communist. I also note that anyone who wants to preserve traditional values is now labeled far right. There is a lot of labeling going on on both sides, trying to make the terms serve as indictments. But, communists is an accurate descriptor! They are totalitarians, in the manner of Mao, Lenin, etc. "Disagree with us and we will gleefully kill you."
