Rickards's New Book (ATTENTION: Smith1776!)

Post by yankees60 »

Jim Rickards has recently come out with yet another book.

MoneyGPT: AI and the Threat to the Global Economy

The salient questions here are:

1) Has Smith1776 yet bought it?

2) If so, has he yet read it?

I read this analogy in the news this morning:

AI : Google Search :: e-commerce : WalMart

Google's turf has been that they own the text box that people use when they need information. They collected their rent as the middle-man between you and the web site that could give you the information you need.

However, now w/ AI, you don't even end up on websites anymore. The AI companies have scraped the web, collected all the information you might need, and provide you with the text box and the information you seek.

Unless Google becomes the best provider of AI-mediated information, they could lose their dominance. Also, I wonder what will happen to websites w/ informational content. Why produce any content when it will just be scraped by an AI platform and users may never need to navigate to your site.

Google's too big. No more government protection in the form of patents.

I haven't read it yet. But definitely will!

I wonder if his conclusion will be the same as it always has been in his books: buy gold.

When his 2021 book came out I did heavy excerpting of it here.

Here was the chapter where he gave his investing recommendations.

Only 10% gold.

Sold Out came out in 2022? I'm not remembering that one. Any other since besides this new one?
