Pickleball Injuries Are to Blame for Surging Health Care Costs: Kiplinger Economic Forecasts

A few weeks ago when I was the first one to arrive at the softball field for our game that night ... I was shocked at how many pickleball players there were playing on such a hot day.
Not only were they using the official pickleball court but they had taken over the basketball court .... setting up two more games there.
In all it seemed like there were 12 people playing on this quite hot day.
There are always players there whenever we are playing softball at that field. It has been my observation that most of the players are on the older side.
The somewhat paradoxical thing was that while our softball game was going on the pickleball players dwindled to almost nothing as the temperature was dropping.
So far my pickleball participation has been limited to throwing the ball back to them when it goes off the court and comes near the softball field.

Insurers have reported higher demand than expected for health care related to pickleball injuries. It could cost the U.S. up to $500 million.
