Looks like there is a change in guard at the fact checking department:

Is this irony? I don't know, but I'm enjoying it. Presumably Elon is too.

At first I didn't like the sound of context being added by Twitter overlords but it sounds like this just a pinned comment based on community votes. That is generally helpful to stop a tweet that is disinformation.
According to a description under the annotation, “Context is written by people who use Twitter, and appears when rated helpful by others.”

Inflation is so high that America’s seniors got the biggest increase in their Social Security checks since….
Doesn’t have the same ring to it.

I loved Elon's response to Stephen King not wanting to pay $20 for his bluecheck. "Too poor for $20? How about $8?"
He is a merciful god.

The whole Twitter thing is bizarre. I started using it for info on the UKR/RUS war. It just does not seem as important as people make it out to be though. I’m not understanding the uproar. I will however say that in a short time the advertisements have gone WAY down in quality. Rather than getting adverts for legitimate products I seem to be getting a lot of “x 1990s TV series you should see the cast now” which takes you to the typical 100% nothing but click bait sites.
Not a good sign for the several billion dumped into the purchase.

I use Twitter extensively but I never see ads. In what ways do you see ads from Twitter?

I get fed "promoted tweets," takes a sec to determine its an advert.
The uproar is because social media is the new public square, and twitter was banning anyone who questioned forced vaccination.

This is not to imply Conservatives have moral superiority. Term limits, voter ID, and paper ballots for everyone =)

Now I see why I'm not seeing the "ads".
I generally use Twitter by only seeing tweets that come to the various lists that I have created. I don't generally look at my Twitter feed. Therefore the only tweets I will see are those from those I have put on my list. Advertisers are not on my lists so that don't appear.

Yes, lists are the way to go. I follow zero other accounts so my feed is empty. But I have several private lists that so far remain unpolluted by the algorithms. It also helps by keeping different areas of interest separated which is easier on my brain.

I like using the lists because they allow me to somewhat focus on a certain topic - such as my three favorite sports teams which each have their own list.
