I'm having a lot of problems with brokerage firms for expats. Although I have a US address, and I'm a US resident, I can't seem to get a brokerage account at many of the firms. Any of you expats using US brokerage firms? If so which ones? BTW, Robinhood completely screwed me. DO NOT USE THEM!

I’m not an expat anymore but I’ve seen Interactive Brokers mentioned a lot at sites like bogleheads.org.

Thanks! I've heard that also. I wonder how reputable they are? I hear customer service isn't the best. Thanks for honoring General Powell. He changed my life!

If you have a U.S. address, how do they know you are an expat?

They use two-factor authentication. The phone number I used to open my account in the US, is not the number I use to communicate in XYZ country. Then the questions start.

A Google phone number will transfer calls to another phone for you but I don't know if they will do it if for phone numbers that are not +1. Worth looking into though, if you haven't already.

Thanks for that! I will look into it!
