Have not yet read it but I just started collecting Social Security this past May after attaining the age of 70 in April.
As a single person in good health and with no need for the income prior to age 70....that seemed the best way to go. But I will read this as the 4 stages seem intriguing.
Thanks

I can save you some time Vinnie as I've looked at this a fair amount. Assume your death age and the math is very straight forward...and whatever you assume changes what is optimal.
Whether 3 is even worth looking at is dependent on your retired income stream sources, but once you know those lines it's again very straightforward
4, is a complete guess.

Interesting analysis. I took SS at age 62. I did lots of calculations but in the end decided “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush”. I also considered the death ages of my ancestors. At my current age I have lived longer than all but two males going back several generations. I still have several years before I reach the likely “crossover“ age in the article scenarios. I am completely satisfied with the choice I made and why I made it, and would do the same thing again knowing all that has transpired since I was 62.
Good luck to you flyingpylon!
