I have to think the #1 reason that chains are fleeing these neighborhoods is because of the high rate of crime which is now completely unenforced and unprosecuted.
And the risk of having the pharmacy burnt to the ground after another George Floyd/ Rodney King incident.
Maybe things won't go so far as tomfoolery is suggesting but I can see a bill offering free insurance from the government coffers if such a thing were to happen.

This is a victim piece. Chicago has one of the best public transport systems in the country. Walk a few blocks in any direction and you can pick up a bus to get anywhere you need to go. I am also amused at the reason given for the 'pharmacy deserts' (low medicaid reimbursement). While that may also be a concern, I have to think the #1 reason that chains are fleeing these neighborhoods is because of the high rate of crime which is now completely unenforced and unprosecuted.
So you’re saying our only two societal options are to get rid of bail reform and retarget minorities with the criminal justice system or have them die of covid due to wealthy pharmacy CEOs not wanting to service the poor black communities?
You don't have to target minorities, just criminals. But in a nutshell, yes.
But then you run into the problem of killing dolphins as you’re trying to catch tuna.
Especially when the dolphins intentionally jump into tuna nets demanding justice for other dolphins previously caught by accident in small numbers into tuna nets and start recording the fisherman on their cell phones as they poke at the fisherman.
And then a bunch of dolphin-sympathizing crabs set fire to the fishing boat, driving the fisherman back to land.
Only to have their crab larvae eaten in unprecedented numbers by the now much larger tuna population.
Now the crabs are wondering why they can’t have fisherman come and just take just the tuna but leave the dolphins alone.
And libertarians be like, “haha crabs, served you right for siding with tuna”
Wait, what we talking about again?
When I reached the end of what you'd written just prior to writing that question....I had the same question regarding your message...
