Why Russia Could be the Big Winner in the Climate Crisis

This is an excellent piece. I'm not sure why I never really thought about Russia in the context of climate change. I have typically looked at places like Maine, Oregon, Washington State, Alaska and of course Canada. In the latter half of the 13th century there was a short blast of global warming. During this period glaciers retreated, people were farming in Iceland and Greenland, food supplies grew dramatically and prices fell, population growth was recorded in almost every society where records exist and life expectancy also rose.

I haven't really thought about Russia either in this context. However, I've definitely heard rumblings of similar sentiment regarding Canada. The article in question touches upon this briefly as well.

I very well may be happy here in Vancouver... until the sea level rises and displaces everyone directly at the coast that is.

Might have to move to Canada. Australia would be 100% desert instead of 90%. ::)
