Re: Covid Vs Diabetes

Well I have to agree since I have been told more times than I can count over the last year that "We are all in this together!"tomfoolery wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 4:30 pm Is Covid more of a public health crisis than type 2 diabetes (DM)? If we can demand people wear masks, demand we control how they stand in relation to others, and demand how many people they interact with, can we not also demand people eat healthier?
If the counter-argument is that people who eat unhealthy and become +DM are only hurting themselves and they should be allowed to do that whereas mask-wearing is meant to protect others, then what if a bunch of anti-mask idiots wanted to take the risk of dying of covid and decided to get together without masks or run private businesses that don’t require customers to wear masks, and all those idiots can die of covid similar to how we as a society allow idiots who want to drink 300 grams of sugar a day (most of which vote republican) to engage in that behavior?
If the counter-argument to that is “but the anti-maskers would eventually infect the peaceful, intelligent mask-wearers when they interact in public, then I wonder how that happen since the anti-maskers would only frequent businesses who don’t demand masks and the intelligent pro-science folks would only shop at places with masks. Free market solution.
If the counter-counter-counter argument is that the covid-denialists, who all probably think Bill Gates wants to brainwash them with 5G implants, will all get sick and take up hospital resources. You mean the hospital resources that should be reserved for all of the type 2 diabetics who need various procedures, dialysis, surgery, cardiac treatment, etc?
10% of Americans have diabetes and at least half of all admitted patients in the hospital have diabetes. So who’s unnecessarily taking up hospital resources with easily preventable methods such as eating healthy?
Also, most fat people are from red states, so screw those people. They make unintelligent voting decisions and it shows in their dietary choices.
Can’t we demand they eat better? We can demand face wear for a few years and bankrupt tens of thousands of small businesses such as bars and restaurants, we can devalue our currency to print billions in aid money to bail out airlines. But we can’t make people eat better?
And who better than the government scientists to decide what people should eat. Food pyramid 2.0
The same scientists who are teaching us what we need to do to fight covid, can also teach us how to eat better.
Just like covid, it’s harder to penalize individual people so we go after businesses. If the business allows people without a mask, the business gets fined. Why not monetarily fine businesses who contribute to the DM and obesity epidemic?
Very intelligent people are lobbying to repeal the horrific, anti-children law the blocks legitimate victims of gun violence from suing gun manufacturers. Once we repeal that, maybe we can go after McDonald’s, Wal Mart, and any one else lining their pockets with the deaths of millions of Americans each year to DM-related complications.
Who’s with me?
