This is by 2035.

1) He will be long gone
2) We'll have some sort of fusion power by then (I hope) and all energy related concerns start disappearing. Or even micro-reactors (https://www.energy.gov/ne/articles/what ... croreactor)
3) Battery technology continues to improve constantly. The energy density by 2035 will likely be beyond even the most wild eyed optimist right now.

As long as I can own a personal drone before I die so I can fly around like George Jetson, that's all I'm looking for. :P

We should be pinning all hope of this succeeding on fusion reactors.

:)

"The longstanding joke about fusion—that it’s the energy source of the future, and always will be—may be the field’s biggest problem.

The quest to bottle the power of the sun has led to countless starry-eyed predictions of an imminent clean energy revolution. But the expectations for fusion have always been outsized, the trail of broken promises has grown long, and public perception has soured."

No kidding.

Of course I hope they get it done; it would be great. But there have been way too many broken promises for me to believe it's different this time.

It seems like modern designs of fission plants are sufficiently safe to mark that goal as achieved, even if it isn't fusion.

Yeah if not fusion these smaller fission ones. I suspect nuclear will make a comeback when people find you just can't generate everything from solar and wind.
