Moonshots
I know on bogleheads people get annoyed with talk of play money and anything that isn’t invested ‘optimally’.
But, this is the VP section, not bogleheads.

My latest moonshot, no pun intended is Virgin Galactic. I have invested all of eleven hundred dollars into it and so far am up 79%.
Ticker:SPCE
Last “successful “moonshot was TeSLA but it looks like I was out well before the real money was made.

Re: Moonshots
Is that the redditors messing with Virgin Galactic?
Thinking about selling. I just bought it as a goof anyway.
That $1100 from 12 months ago is now 5100.

Re: Moonshots
Closed out my Virgin Galactic/SPCE position at $54.00 this morning. Maybe it's going to the moon (and maybe their spacecraft will literally go there), but I'll be watching from the sidelines. It was fun to make a small profit.
I'm also hoping to get rid of PLUG/Plug Power. A friend told me about it years and years ago and I bought some for fun. Lost nearly all of what I put in, maybe $500.
They had a reverse split.
One wash sale period later I got back in with a whopping $48 "investment."
Those 20 shares are now worth $1265.

I do not have the nerves to keep individual stocks anymore. Either ETFs as part of portfolios or day/short swing trading when something pops on my scanners and I am dedicated to that... But day trading is more for fun rather anything else, especially day/swing trading in Europe is quite hard - frequent gaps, no premarket, not enough of liquidity... crazy thing is that there are still retail traders believing they can make something out of it.

Re: Moonshots
Too fresh, yes. But, I couldn’t resist. So just a fraction of a fraction of a percent. Makes it easy to hold on. I did the same thing with Tesla. Sold way too soon in retrospect, but it worked out.
Conversely, though, I didn’t put a penny into Palantir. Very interesting company and maybe it’ll go sky high, but I’m just not interested in holding it except as part of a fund.

Glad I never bought Virgin Orbit.

Re: Moonshots
I don’t remember writing that. I do own some PLTR as of May ‘22 but it’s pretty close to a penny in investment.

It’s up 20% just this morning.

Re: Moonshots
I took a nibble of LUNR yesterday (Intuitive Machines), a literal moonshot. It’s up this morning pre-market due to the successful landing but I don’t expect to make money on it in the long run, necessarily. Just want to be along for the ride.

Re: Moonshots
Anyone for Toast/TOST?
Not a moonshot, just a variable portfolio stock, but it doesn’t warrant its own thread.

Re: Moonshots

I think there’s another fintech called Bread Holdings.

Re: Moonshots
Putting Toast in a search brings way too many irrelevant results. So need more context or information here.

Re: Moonshots
I could give you a direct link, but it’s better if you spread your wings and fly.
How about typing it (“toast”) into wikipedia. That will bring you to a disambiguation page where you can select the software company.
Or you could type the previously mentioned ticker (TOST) into yahoo finance.

You've made it way too time consuming for something I don't have sufficient motivation to investigate.
It would have been much simpler / easier if you to had provided more information / context.
