Lately, browsers often load the wrong page because they know my browsing history.

Does that happen to you?

I type an a..
browser: oh! You want amazon? Here you go!
me: no, I was typing ‘apmex’
browser: amazon! amazonnnnnnn...wait...ok, here’s apmex.

yahoo finance does the same with tickers.

Hahaha! ;D
You know, I thought you had just written a smiley and I didn't even notice the link. It's light-colored on my screen.
Ended up here while searching to check and see if I'd already posted about Apmex on Amazon.
Funny bit!

It's called "autocomplete," and you can turn it off. Just don't ask me how.

I'm amazed I knew that, being a complete idiot when it comes to computers. In fact, it occurs to me that the original post might be some kind of joke or satire, and that I'm an even bigger idiot than I thought.

On the other hand, I was in Radio Shack not too long ago, and a guy about my age came in looking for "a cord that has two slots at the end." The clerk, a millennial computer geek, kept showing him ever more specialized cords and asking him questions that he clearly didn't understand. The two weren't communicating at all. I finally chimed in and said, "I think he wants a power cord." Bingo.

Definitely autocomplete in krieg’s video, but something else in Yahoo’s ticker search.
It basically loads a shorter ticker when I’m still typing a longer one.
Kind of the same idea as autocomplete, but a slightly different implementation.
