The Ever Lovely Lily!
By the way last year I planted catnip in my vegetable garden. This year I did not plant any but what I planted last year turned out to be a huge bush.
This past Friday night we brought some of it in. The three cats went wild over it and their behavior was significantly affected by it. The first thing I did was to do a Bing search on "Can cats overdose on catnip." All six responses that popped up were a resounding No.
We left the house and them with all that catnip. When we came back five hours later they were seemingly full of catnip but still going for more.
I have tons more of it in my garden still ready to be picked. Unsure what my future plans are with it.

No overdose and no bad side effects.
Cats are too cool for that.

I am planning on doing a vegetable garden myself in my backyard. As a new homeowner I'm learning lots about lawn care and garden care. It's been a fun journey so far.

Cannot remember if I've yet disclosed this here.
I am usually almost always the last one in my neighborhood to cut his grass for the first time.
For many years it's not been until Memorial Day as all the other opportunities prior to then were taken up by either softball games or rain preventing me from cutting it.
Last year I had a lot done on my property.
One thing was having a new driveway installed. The other was regrading all around my house using new loam.
As a result this spring there were a lot of bare spots alongside both sides of the driveway plus where the property had been regraded. Putting down grass seeds in those spots is against my religion. I'm not that kind of homeowner.
Meanwhile in the spring I'm devoting all my available outside time to preparing my garden area soil plus planting all the plants and then spending about 45 minutes each morning watering them.
This then results in significant growth in my "lawn" like I've never seen before.
At first I told myself I'm into growing things. Let's see what just grows naturally. Certainly I will get some wildflowers.
I was thrilled to see the jackrabbit who'd been eating quite a bit out of my garden, instead, on my lawn eating the clover that was growing!
Then I reached a point where I told myself just let it grow all year without cutting anything!
And, that is where I am today.
At this point I'm thinking of cutting almost all of it next year at the start but, perhaps, creating various squares in places that would be similar to what is going on now.

Vinny, I have to say that the peaceful life you've built for yourself is exactly what I am aiming for!

More like a highly eccentric one!
Last year for really the first time after owning my house for over 40 years I spent a lot of money on my house:
New driveway
Regrading property on all sides of house
Putting up a trench on the east side of the house
Removing 40 year old trees and bushes.
Spending $2,000 on plantings for the north and west sides of my house.
Then I do this!
If my neighbors did not know what to do with me in the past then I'm sure that now they are completely perplexed!

Eccentric is good. Normal is boring. I am definitely starting to model aspects of my life based on you.

I started early. A cousin told me she observed that aspect of me back when I was only 12 years old.

She literally knocked the pillows off the couch and onto the floor so she could sit on one.

The best she can do is to meet them virtually!

Fortunately, it's an induction cooktop, so quite a bit safer!
