Sheesh....
Did they make the announcement with a translator so non-Quebecans could understand, as per our "Great Leaders" example.

I’d like to see the unvaccinated peasants storm the castle somewhere. And not the selfie taking kind of January 6 in Washington. The kind with pitchforks.

MINI LECTURE 12: How to Look at the Risks of Covid Vaccines

How to look at the risks of Covid vaccines, why they much lower than you think. We never had a larger monitored sample size in history and it allows events that on average show up later to manifest themselves very early on.
Rationale: It takes a long time in a casino for someone to win 8 times in a row. But if 8 billion people played at the same time you would certainly witness a minimum of such events every day.

Cool, I suppose very soon we'll be given the data comparing CoV1, CoV2, RSV, Rhinovirus, and influenza levels in those samples.

Last week I was in a doctor’s office in north Texas and masks were not required.
I was pretty surprised.

Still mask mandating 2 year olds in NYC.
This can't make any sense to anyone.
Is there some grant or loan forgiveness to continue this? I can't understand any other reason.

North Texas is all over the place right now! I go to a grocery store one day and there are practically no mask wearers. I go to another grocery store 2 days later and its 85% masked. The elementary school by my house seems to be pretty maskless. But my son’s middle school farther away is still all masked, even outside and still checks temperatures before entering.

In ultra-liberal western Massachusetts see little mask wearing anywhere.

At Disney World in Florida, masks are still required on the monorails. Most of the staff doesn’t seem to care, except for one cranky old guy in the Contemporary Hotel. I’m not sure what is the bigger threat, covid or whatever causes the barnyard smell in those things.

Thank goodness for the internet. People around the world can absorb how morally defective and bankrupt the Chinese are. COVID has turned out to be an acid test for a lot of things.

I guess it might be time to resurrect a thread I hoped would be disappearing forever. Has anyone noticed Covid mania coming back to their area?
Last Thursday I went to the grocery store and noticed upon entering that every worker had on a mask. As I shopped I then noticed that every customer had on a mask as well. I found it weird but thought that maybe I just hit it at a weird time. I then drove by Starbucks and the employees there were all masked as well. So I was getting the suspicion that something must be up. I went home, searched the news, and discovered that North Texas has been declared 'Code Red' by the CDC and they are recommending masks again.
Over the weekend I went to a restaurant for lunch. The couple who sat across from me were both wearing masks and never took them off until their food came. And when they sat down they immediately pulled out wipes and wiped down the entire table from top to bottom, including the menu and the order kisok. Then after they wiped everything down they took out a bottle of hand sanitizer and rubbed their hands down for over a min.
Then this morning I saw this at McDonalds:

Are we really going to do this all over again??

BA5 is kicking ass and taking names.
Whether the response is warranted is another question.
I know I'm totally outvoted on this forum so I'll just zip my mouth.

I saw a news article today that said "chances are you will catch COVID over and over again". So much for flattening the curve and returning to normal.
Of course at this point no one even cares anymore. Our local health authority also told us to expect a 7th wave this summer. It's old hat. Just background noise now for most people it seems.

Not for the people who were all masked in my grocery store it is not. The University of Texas at Dallas just declared a "Code Red" and is sending employees back to working from home.
The same people getting it over and over again thing...doesn't that really render the "new cases" data meaningless now? I mean eventually there will be more "cases" than actual citizens due to people getting it multiple times.

Surely that also means that the infection- and case-fatality rates will approach zero.

Again reporting from "ultra-liberal" Western Massachusetts where the vaunted liberal authoritarianism does NOT seem to reign.
Yesterday I was at a music event. I was there from about 2 PM to 11:30 PM.
There were two stages inside and one stage outside.
There were a lot of people there. When I was leaving there were still cars parked on the grass and on the street.
I saw almost no one wearing a mask.
