Saying the alternative to invading is allowing yourself to be overrun ignores the possibility of preparing to defend yourself. A lot of you are making this false argument and convincing yourself it's correct.
It's not a fallacy when the bureaucratic and dysfunctional US government cannot even protect its own borders. We have no capability of defending ourself from the whackjobs. It's all security theatre and another incident will cause joy in hearts of our bureaucrat masters as their power is expanded and they receive ever higher levels of funding. Sad, but true. These jokers only do the job as far as necessary as to give appearances of doing the job.
So then why trust them to send young men and women off to invade and slaughter like it will solve a problem?

I don't, but so long as its an all-volunteer military, its not my problem. If they decide to make it my problem, then I will leave. Simple as that. I would have no more been on the beach landing for D-Day and get blown apart by machine guns then I'm gonna get impaled by some ISIS whackjob swinging a cutlass. I'm intentionally a coward and for very good reasons. Honor, glory, sacrifice is for naive young fools who simply don't know any better (it's not as if you're gonna tell a pumped up on testosterone 20-year old military recruit what he's in for... he won't believe.)

Also, don't overlook the Palestinian issue. That upsets a lot of Muslims, extremist or not.
Humans being held in dungeons, kicked out of their homes, prevented from working and trading, homes bulldozed, rock-thowing children shot dead by men in tanks etc. etc.
It upsets everyone all over the world unless they are suckered by the propaganda machine here, pretty much only in the US and UK.

You are robbed to pay for it and put at risk when you travel abroad because of it. At best you can say you're Canadien.

I prefer to focus on things I have control over. All of life is coercive. The best we can do is minimize and circumvent it as much as practical.
BTW, Canada is no longer a safe haven for draft dodgers, nor is Mexico. They've signed repatriation agreements. I guess its not enough to have all volunteers or voluntary draftees to fight the politican's wars. They ALL must go through the meat grinder now. That is the real crime camoflauged by patriotism and all that other inane B.S.. Glory, glory, hallelujah!!!

I meant say you're Canadian when you travel. That's what I said when I was in France, made hostile people suddenly nice.
The Italiens still seem to like Americans. I was there in '09 and many of the young people seemed convinced G.W. was a closet homosexual.

Looks like it is almost time for some to take the "anti-bitterness" regime again
