Wouldn't that be paradoxical to entropy? Like trying to believe in both predestination and free will? If one believes in entropy then how can its opposite also exist?

I believe one of the laws of thermodynamics is that the entropy of the universe is always increasing. That isn't true of more local systems. Certainly I can decrease entropy in my dorm room by cleaning it. The universe has increased in entropy because of the energy I expended cleaning it, but the room itself has decreased in entropy.

All this "entropy," "enthalpy" stuff suggests, deceptively, that the declining quality of this forum is due to some unavoidable principle of physics. To the contrary, I see the problem as confined to certain patterns of behavior that demonstrate a desire to use this forum for something other than serious, constructive discussion.
