My three cats can go anywhere in the house ..... while if I am in the house .... 95% (or more) of the time I am sitting in this chair.
So where do they decide to sit??!!!

This one looks exactly like one of mine and I'm sure that if she was in the same situation she'd act the same .....

That one looks to be in violation of the leash law, to the detriment of local wildlife.

Do you have leash laws for cats where in live in Texas??!! I have never heard of such a thing.
I have lived in my house for over 40 years now and the obedience of all the dog owners in my neighborhood to the dog leash laws is so strong that I cannot remember the last time someone's dog came on my property or saw any dog off anyone's property.
But cats?
For the record my cats are not allowed outdoors.

A leash law would be a city-by-city thing, but at least here, there's no differentiation between type of pet. The law says that pets can't run around unfettered, which really makes perfect sense.
Most cat owners don't know and/or don't care. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case many places.

This is what Massachusetts says:
"Leash laws
Leash laws vary from town to town. Find your town's rules at Mass. city and town ordinances and bylaws"
For one Massachusetts town I found this:
"No person keeping, owning or having possession, charge, custody or control of any dog shall cause, or permit, suffer or allow the dog to stray, run, be or go, in any manner at large, in or upon any public street, way, sidewalk, school yard or grounds, park or private property of others without express consent of the owner of such private property, except such dog that may be under control by means of a chain or leash, not longer than six feet in length."
My town seems to have nothing to say about a leash law.
But, curiously, it did have this under "Dog Control":
'Section 2: No female dog shall be allowed to run or be at large in any street or other public place in the Town while in season."
The bylaws are fairly recent being effective 9/28/21.

However when you have an elderly, well-fed cat....
Which I did have several years ago when mice were rampant in my house. One time I finally found some under my refrigerator and my cat was in the kitchen with me. Told him ... "There they are!". He had no interest. Too well fed.
On the other hand the week after he died I replaced him with two kittens and a two year old.
That winter no mice activity (and none since). I attributed that to the mice in the neighborhood passing around on their internet that my house now had young cats and was now somewhere to avoid.
Many decades ago I did have cats that were allowed outside. I did not like them killing birds so I put collars with bells on them to stop that. It didn't.
I consolidated your posts since it looks like you quoted yourself and added a single sentence. / DS
Elderly maybe, but well-fed doesn’t matter. They kill for fun as the Oatmeal strip makes clear.

Have never seen anything like that before!
The cat seemed to be drifting in and out with being in sync with the actual rhythm of the music, which is better than too many people I see live dancing who are never in sync with the music's rhythm.
