I see where you're going with this, and no, I haven't tried homebrewing since my botched rhubarb-wine attempt.
I used to make wine with my dad when I was a kid. I was responsible for the grape mushing with my feet.

I will never forget how weird that felt between my toes.

Pfftt. Can't even spend it anywhere. They just closed down the liquor stores here, for fuck's sake!
Food. Rent. Online entertainment. Not everyone has secure jobs or emergency funds. And even those that do, maybe not as secure as thought for many.
The government is deeply in debt and hasn't operated on a budget since the last financial crisis. I don't think it's a legit option right now.

Maybe you could get one of those manuals on bodyweight exercises, like people in prison do if they don’t have access to weights or machines. My brother said it was helpful. (He is a law abiding citizen)

You are only the second person I've ever had contact with who has done that. The first was my father who told me he did that as a kid when he was growing up in Southern Italy (within sight of Pompei / Mt Vesuvius).

He and my mother once made some alcohol thing in our bathtub. Never knew whether the outcome was good or bad. But that was the only time that they did do it.

Okay. Seasteading is still a thing.

How about we all just start a new nation state in international waters using units of PP assets as a basket for our currency.

We get to start a new libertarian nation that has the added appeal of isolation from the Coronavirus.

C'mon guys. This is the perfect opportunity.

That sounds like an incredibly picturesque scene and a rather great childhood memory.

It's funny. I only drink like half a dozen times a year. But because it's so infrequent I am a ridiculously cheap drunk. It's so fun haha.

I have a yoga mat (covered in dust) at home and might just do that to tide me over!

Things are moving fast.

American Airlines stock is back up some 11% as the White House is readying an airline bailout package.

That was part of what Trump spoke about this afternoon. That the airlines would be getting financial support from the government.

Many of the Sunday news talk show hosts went heavy against these Republican government representatives, asking them if these were not "bailouts".

It took a virus, but Trudeau just closed Canada’s borders to noncitizens.

Interesting "tone" to this decade's bailouts compared to the last.

There are a lot of local policy changes happening here in Canada. Utility bill payments are being waived. Mortgage payments are being waived. There's an amazing amount of solidarity and even... positivity? The fact that this crisis was not precipitated by a bunch of bankers helps I'm sure.

Looks like people whose incomes have dried up are getting at least 2 months reprieve from many major bill payments. One of my friends just had her car payments suspended till July.

My dad is still in Hong Kong. I am hoping he will be able to come home without delay.

He is still in a "it's not that bad" mode.

Interesting. I saw a story today that I meant to read, featuring Hong Kong. Seems they have been very successful in dealing with it.

Right. I was just thinking... China's cases seem to be winding down. Europe and North America are where Asia was some weeks or months back.

He may be theoretically safer there from the virus than here? Though I am also concerned about disruptions to travel and infrastructure.

On a totally separate note. Because of the gym closures, I have not been working out. But I'm still eating like I'm working out.

I'm getting fat. Noooooo.......... :'( :'( :'(

Several years ago, I was injured so that I could not do my three times a week weight lifting plus the the other exercises. During that time I LOST 8-10 pounds! Because I was not exercising my appetite dropped drastically. That taught me a great lesson. Exercise is great for the body (and mind) in many ways. But it is NOT a key component to weight loss. What you put in your mouth is! The type of food you eat and the quantities of food you eat are the major determinants of what you weigh. Or, at least that is my personal experience / theory.

My brother's new wife is Chinese.
She has told him harrowing tales of how they have fought the virus.
Including murdering a large number of infected people and burning the bodies.
Of course I don't have independent confirmation, but she should know...
