Good point, it really doesn't anymore than any other stratagy for investing does.
These are things that have worked for decades and whether conventional investing or the pp folks have met their goals most of the time.
It just depends what your goals are and whether performance will be better or worse over your own time frame and that is something you can't tell in advance by looking at pretty charts.
Driving and looking in the rear view mirror is never a good idea as each time something is just different enough to play out totally different.
Remember first iraq invasion we fell. Second iraq invasion we soared.
