That's very true, but how do you know you're not a target at any given moment?

I have a Chromebook that only gets used for quick internet browsing because there's no lag for it to boot up. Unlike the Chrome software on a Windows machine there appears to be no (software) way to disable the microphone. I sure as hell didn't 'opt in' to this secretive 'feature'. Short of getting rid of the device, I'm not really sure what options I have.

Seriously, this is the wave of the future.  Don't fool yourself into thinking it's only one product or brand. 

Fight to the last, dying breath....  minimize the amount of information collected relative to foolish others and you'll be lost in translation.
