Given that the purpose of government is to take from group A and give to group B, doesn't this suggest that Red states are better at government, and the Blue states are inhabited by a bunch of rubes who are letting themselves be taken for a ride?

Well if I put my statist hat on, I'd say governments are there to insure the uninsurable, prevent races to the bottom, and encourage races to the top, but...

If I put my individualist hat on, you're dead on!! :)

But for the most part, most liberals in blue states WANT individuals in the red states to have universal healthcare, access to inexpensive food and housing, and good education. Even if they are tribalist, inbred, hateful conservatives. :)

So I don't think most of them mind it. In fact, I really don't mind MN's contribution all that much. I joke about seceding to prove a point.  I feel incredibly lucky to be born where and when I was.  Think of the ovarian lottery we've all won. And think of how much time we complain about who got more, or who we think is taking from our lottery pot. I direct that to all political sects, as well as myself to a certain degree.
