Post is an excellent choice - bamboo substrate with celluloid scales if I remember correctly.  I also used Picketts (one full size, one pocket size) a lot, but for some reason the mahogany substrate and ivory-like faces of the K&E was more appealing than the aluminum stock and yellow paint of my Picketts.  My uncle gave me his K&E from his "post" Air Force college days in the late 40s.
