I tried Ubuntu with my granddaughter and I found myself putting in just as much time helping her to set up things she had managed to do perfectly well with Windows, like iTunes. I don't think there was even a Linux version so I tried some Linux equivalent and also WINE but finally gave up and re-installed Windows.

iTunes is one of the big things that's not available for Linux. If you have an iOS device, good luck getting it to work with Linux, it's a crapshoot. Of course, you can blame Apple for that, not Linux. :)

Now that I think of it, the thing that really made me go back was when she told me the webcam I had bought her for windows didn't work on Linux. With windows I just handed it to her still in the box and never heard another word. With Linux, I figured I could probably get it working if I tried hard enough but after dealing with stuff like this all day at work I said life is too short.
