I thought maybe we could name it "Chaps."

Quess that not being native English, I'm missing the clue.
However "spotting": "alle asset classes are up" is more easy to pronounce than "chapsing".

Hi Gerard. I'm sure that in the Netherlands you have a few common names for dogs that keep coming up. I've only met two Dutch dogs, but they had English names. In the States, there used to be a lot of dogs named Spot, Fido (too close to Fidelity), and Patch.

I picked Spot because it alludes to the spot price of gold, hence, "I hope he will continue to rise." A play on words. Those dogs are not necessarily spotters. Sometimes, they just have a cute spot of black around the eye on predominantly white fur.

I like Chaps, MT.  :)

I'm trying to interpret the Fed's latest statement.

It appears as though the FED is backtracking on their non-taper as the gold market has completely reversed its course to the downside.

I think that's their way to trash gold which they try to do every time it goes up quickly.
High gold = low dollar = higher interest payments on the debt

Buy the gold people are selling. The FED is bluffing about taper. If they were going to taper they would have this week.

The economic data is not going to get better and they know it.

Gold might go down in the short run so don't put yourself in too much stress if you can't take it though - my opinion. I can't handle more than 40-50% in it but I'm comfortable there for now. If it explodes I'll have to start selling.

Did the Fed say they were backtracking?  I haven't seen any such remark.  Do you have a link?
I work from home and keep CNBC on. I think I saw some headlines that the FED is now saying they think they'll taper in Dec but I don't have a quote.

Apparently the Fed's Bullard walked back some of the things Bernanke said. Their credibility now is a mess.

An image of this guy popped into my head as the new Fed spokesman.
