There are Continuing Disability Reviews every <3-7 years, time frame depending on the whether the disability is expected to improve.

Didn't know that. I was thinking of my Dad who was going to eventually transition to social security any way so it turned out to be a lifetime thing.

Still sounds like a better deal than welfare though.
