Agree that discussions on this forum are generally very civil, and agree that it would be a different kind of atmosphere if posts were frequently edited or deleted (would hope that MT does nothing different than he has nicely done so far). And agree that it makes sense that there will be a natural libertarian bent to discussions.
As far as other discussions go, all I would really like to see is:
1. If someone is trying to sell their views (especially if controversial) rather than to educate or be educated (sometimes a fine line), consider posting elsewhere. For example, I would never think of posting on this forum something such as, "What's everyone's view on Roe vs Wade." No need. Very few, including myself, will change their mind based on such a discussion.
2. If someone is posting a lot more than others (appearing as if they are posting everything they read on other sites), consider posting elsewhere. While it is fun to see others reactions, at some point these posts become pollution.
As far as the PP goes, I tend to disagree that we have exhausted everything. Rates change, ETFs change, dealers change, etc. And, in my mind, some of the most important bits of information are buried in this forum never to be seen again my many (such as mechanisms to test gold bullion for authenticity). Until we have a good mechanism for tagging them, I think it is a good thing to revisit them occasionally.

Re: Direction of forum
As a long term (many decades) follower of HB, I am glad there is a forum that is populated with thoughtful and respectful posters interested in sharing their knowledge and experience about HB, the PP and related subjects. I have been particularly impressed with the open-mindedness, lack of rancor and willingness of posters to patiently introduce newcomers to the concepts involved. We live in an incredibly big and diverse world with many different points of view. CraigR and MT have done an amazing job moderating the forum--not to mention producing a great book I feel like I should have attempted to write a few years ago if only I hadn't been so lazy.
Having said all that, I do sometimes think some of the discussion gets a little far afield. There is only so much you can meaningfully discuss and rehash about an investment strategy. I guess that's okay, as long as the posts are divided into the appropriate threads.
But there is one thing about the forum that I constantly wonder about. How many of you are working? I have been retired for a number of years (although I don't "look" retired, if you'll allow me the conceit!)--but I know I could never have participated actively in this forum while I was in school or working.

I think that most on the forum actually work for the gun lobby. Some work for the Cato Institute. And one or two work in the lard industry.HB Reader wrote: But there is one thing about the forum that I constantly wonder about. How many of you are working?

Benko,
I see that you have got a new signature. Can you expand a bit on of how man should deal with transnational / global environmental issues? This seems to be an area that libertarians gloss over.
Edit: maybe another thread would fit this topic better.
