If LTT do ever get to 0%, perhaps that's when it is good to move to STT and to EE bonds if you haven't already gotten any. I've currently got a couple thousand in at 0.6% (although now I believe they are at 0.2%. But I can have that 0.6% for up to 30 years and guaranteed doubling within 20 years. Just trying to cover all the economic bases.

Greg,

I'll be moving into EE's long before we hit zero.  I will be licking my chops at 1.5% on a 20-year treasury.

Well even though EE bonds are non-marketable securities, at a implied 20 year doubling, for I think 3.5% that's not too bad.

Essentially a non-marketable 20 year bond at 3.5% tax-deferred. Not too shabby.
