It is impossible that anyone who comes to this website is "stupid". We are all just in varying phases of "awakening".  :)

Best of luck to you!

You may find this usefull
I uploaded a spread sheet to google docs that you can download. It has a built in GTU premium calculator and you could edit it to keep track of your new permanent  portfolio.
I wish you the best of luck and as a final note  I offer my guarantee that if you do not use leverage your overall loss is guaranteed not to exceed your investment.

steve, thanks, just filled it with my info, that works nice.

Here is another new and stupid question.

I have an automatic investment set up every week going towards our IRA, should I just continue this and divide it among each asset class in my PP and then rebalance once or twice a year?

Is that what you guys do?

Some add to cash and wait till the cash is 35% of total and then rebalance all or you could add to the laggard assests, sort of like leveling the ground along the way, either way is ok. If you have to pay commissions each time it may be better to wait and rebalance less. I personally do not rebalance every year, I wait untill I hit a rebalance band 35%/15% or come very close.
