It's definitely a load off the shoulders, as every time I looked at the deck it was a job I knew needed to be tackled.
Sooner or later the front porch will need the same treatment, but fortunately it's not urgent by any means. The back deck is completely exposed to the elements, but the front porch is covered by an overhang extension of the roof. The wood there is still in great shape.

BTW, I'm headed to Hong Kong (again) in a few days. I'll be posting pictures of my travels.
Souvenirs anyone?

Eat a mooncake for me
Hey Smithers, when you went through passport control in Canada before boarding your flight to Ukraine, did they ask a lot of follow-up question after “Purpose of visit?” Did they ask if you were going to stick to certain regions?
Just curious.

Honestly, not really. It was very quick and quite free of hassle.
My fiance's parents are without power in Ukraine at the moment. There is a huge deficit in electricity generation. They get something like 10 hours of blackout per day. Real bummer.

Good morning, fine people. What are you all up to?
I've got to hurry and finish up a lab assignment for a cloud computing course. After that I'll be taking the missus out to enjoy some sun I think.

Even with 2mn people in Houston, then.

Just picked up some beautiful Hokkaido scallops and some lamb merguez. Trying to figure out what to eat first. Heavy rain today (rain or rains?) so it’s a good day for reading or watching videos.
You don’t like to fly? Well, no one likes to fy these days, but— you feel uncomfortable flying?

Could you go skydiving tomorrow without any "discomfort"? Its safe. Simply think rationally. =)
Short flight might be fun but I'm not tryna spend 5+ hours pondering how theres nothing I can do if anything on this contraption breaks. Probably in the cockpit would be engaging enough to tolerate. Some flights offer channel 9 but our litigious safety culture is eroding that https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united- ... ed-24.html

I used to respond similarly when I was younger if people told me not to be nervous. (Except I didn’t tell you to turn off your fear of flying). Yep, it’s an irrational feeling. Or maybe rational, if one follows the Boeing news.
I have some highly intelligent friends who either get claustrophobic on a plane or just don’t like putting their lives in the hands of an unknown pilot, while they are comfortable driving. I only have a small particle of brain lodged in my skull*, so I can easily fly without worrying too much, even though I’ve been on planes that had some mishaps.

It's hot, humid, and muggy here. Just the way we like it in Hong Kong!

Yay, you’ve arrived! Take more pictures of characters when you get a chance. I love me some 中文, but especially when it’s on real signs around town. Is the fiancee there, too? I guess so— that must be the very active smartwatch I see

Yup she’s here with me! It’s the morning and we’re going exploring.
I have an international roaming package so will continue to post pics.
This is my favourite curry fish ball place in the whole city! It was literally the first place I took her haha.

I love this tradition of showing off Harry in exotic locales. I remember a similar thing from elementary school.
