Judge's comments to Zimmerman--any lawyers care to comment?

Angela Corey's office just released this photo, which is supposed to be Martin and Zimmerman a few weeks before the shooting.  These photos were apparently taken from different angles than any other photos that have been made public to date, and that's why they both look slightly different from the other images we have seen in the media:

It's nice to finally see some prominent figures in the black community starting to call out the media and the black racists in the Zimmerman matter.

It looks like we've got Charles Barkley and Bill Cosby weighing in with a bit of honesty.  So refreshing.

Indeed. I loved the Jason Riley piece in the Wall Street Journal, but how many of the good people wearing Trayvon t-shirts and blocking traffic are going to read it? Maybe they'll listen to Barkley.

If I was advising Obama, here is what I would say:

"Mr. President, on this Zimmerman case, I would suggest that you just quit while you're behind.  When you say that you could have been Trayvon Martin 35 years ago, what you are saying is that you were a homophobic dopehead, a racist, a burglar, and a vandal who was prone to random attacks on strangers.  Unless you want to rename your book The Audacity of Dope, I would suggest that you just steer clear of this case.  If you really need someone to stir the pot on this story, just let Eric Holder do it--he's the expert, after all.  If you decide that someone needs to speak the truth, just give Charles Barkley a call, he seems to have a lot of experience in this area."

Actually I'm pretty sure he's feeling nothing but joy at not facing life behind bars any more.  There's no chance that the Feds will bring civil charges against him.  He maybe has to worry about a civil suit, but my understanding is that a lot of the evidence that "Chris Farley in a dress" suppressed would be admissible and that would make it more of a character battle.

Arizona Watermelon Fruit Juice Cocktail and Skittles are two popular ingredients for the cough syrup-based concoction known as "Lean" or "Purple Drank."

Here is something to think about: Why would someone walk a mile in the rain (2 mile round trip on foot) just for a sweet drink and a bag of candy?  OTOH, if someone was bouncing off the walls of his dad's girlfriend's place, might he be willing to walk two miles in the rain to get high?

Note that Martin's tweets contained references to his fondness for Lean and his autopsy report contained references to liver damage that were consistent with narcotics abuse.

To be brutally honest, the only reason people are even aware of Trayvon Martin is because it became a topic within mainstream news and pop culture. Meaning: News directors saw it as a profitable, sensational story. Hundreds of blacks die annually in South Side Chicago without even a blurb. Trayvon isn't in the mainstream news for any reason other than ratings and profit

So before going back to popping molly and getting Turnt Up, I urge you to consider the implications of your actions. Your child's life may depend on it.

The urban dictionary says molly is a drug called MDMA. I seem to remember that going around back in my psychedelic days though I never tried it. I think it may be what they call ecstasy today, or something close. And Turnt up is just gettin' high in general which I'm doing right now after work with a glass of Blue Moon. You learn something new every day.

Seriously though, along the same lines as that article why did Obama choose this case to speak out? Has he ever spoken out on any of the black-on-black shootings in Chicago or a black-on-white crime? Tells you a lot about him. More than I really want to know actually.

I'm not a huge fan, but to give him some credit, he's bound to please and disappoint large groups of people simulataneously no matter what he says. He was profiled in the past and I'm glad he spoke up about it. Still, I didn't like his general message.
