Yes.

No. In my case I consider it a case of being a Big Information Person and being more productive with it without having to waste time constantly opening and closing windows, moving things around, scrolling all over the place.

Instead ... having it all right in front of you.

I could never understand how people get work done using a one monitor (on top of it being a rather small monitor) laptop.

And, even worse, the person who tells me that they can get all their work done on their phone.

I only have one monitor, Vinny.
Poor value! O0

I had intended to mothball my current ‘08-‘09 Compaq screen this fall and keep it for emergencies, but if I can find a way to plug it into the future Mac, maybe I’ll try the dualscreen experience. It might be useful if the cat is blocking one screen.

Not clear to what your "Poor value" is responding to or referring to.

But if one monitor suits your purposes then that is all you need.

However, if you are dealing with Excel worksheets like this that have links to other Excel worksheets then having two (the larger the better) monitors enhances productivity in getting the work done.

One monitor I guess I can understand.... but their PHONE? Kind of insanity. Even if you can get everything done on there.. isn't that inefficient?

I love having multiple monitors. I tend to find that people are often skeptical and bemused when they see how many I have. But when I let them try it out they often run out afterwards to get multiple monitors of their own!

I was introduced to dual monitors at a place I was working and after that there was no going back to just one monitor. Pure torture.

All kinds of daily stats of all things electricity-wise for my basement dehumidifier, meter reading for my entire house, temperature / humidity in basement, temperature in garage.

All done so as to document my electricity usage for sizing a solar system for electricity.

When I first started doing it last summer I found out that my old dehumidifier was using more electricity than the rest of my house combined! That quickly led to me learning how to use my new dehumidifier and put it into action. New one uses about 25% the electricity that the old one was using.

Also Dell delayed again, gonna ask for another 10% off. It'll be 30 days. Plandemic rent's due in LA county. Already a mile of RVs next to USC hospital

Interesting! Maybe I should do something like that.

As of right now I pretty much just eyeball most of my bills and usage. I've come to the conclusion that most of my utility bills consist of fixed charges. The bill doesn't seem to really change no matter how much or how little I use.

Cue the 24/7 AC!!!

I've been in the same house since I bought it on April 30, 1982. I've been doing an Excel worksheet of all details of my electric bills since 1998. It now being in its 26th year. The below shows my average kWh's used per day. You can see dramatic differences from year-to-year and some trends.

I went online on December 30, 2022 with three mini-splits - one 18,000 BTU and two 6,000 BTU, which explains the great increases starting in January 2023. However, since I have a great aversion to air conditioning (do not turn it on in my car) ... they have not been used for one second to provide any air conditioning. So in comparison to last July after both substituting the new dehumidifier for the old one and repairing my electric hot water heater so that it now again runs in heat pump mode ... my kWh's used per day dropped from 18.7 to 8.7! That is a significant decrease especially in terms of $$$. Now paying $0.40 per kWh used ... reducing monthly usage by 300 kWh is a $120 monthly savings.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s that plus mold from things that spilled but weren’t cleaned up.
The missus has a friend whose house was like that. Strangely (or perhaps not?), the husband is a psychiatrist.

I'd have a difficult time deciding which is the worst part of it all! The two Trump posters are many times surpassed by all the other disasters going on in that small space! Packed so much disaster in one tiny space! That took a certain talent, probably the most being tolerant of so many things that most of us would be intolerant of (and I'm not at all referring to those Trump posters)!
