Haha, nice! Did you eat some mushrooms? Or some other method? Dosage? Was it a meaningful experience?
I haven't done a proper psychedelic dose in awhile, but I occasionally microdose, e.g. 0.3g dried cubensis last Sunday.

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
Just curious, what purpose is there in doing this? FWIW, I have never experienced the results of drugs other than caffeine, alcohol, other food components, and medical products such as a dentist or anesthesiologist uses.Jack Jones wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 8:34 amHaha, nice! Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
It's like seeing a new color. Cant be explained. Not sure its worth it though, its so strange it can cause panic.
Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
It turned out to be real meaningful. My father passed away late last year, and through the trip I was able to talk to him and see him again. That alone made it worth the psychedelic hangover the next day. Amazing stuff.Jack Jones wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 8:34 amHaha, nice! Did you eat some mushrooms? Or some other method? Dosage? Oh, I forgot to answer your other questions.
My girlfriend and I ended up taking the trip together. We consumed it in tea form, which is my preferred method. Surprisingly pleasant tasting when combined with a traditional tea.
Not sure about dosage because the lady friend prepared it... it wasn't a low dose though that's for sure.

I've been hearing about research into psilocybin for treating depression.
And other uses
I've mostly heard from a podcast I like -- The Tim Ferris Show

Indeed! The gf and I had this particular bag of shrooms in one of our dresser drawers for a while now. It was only because we watched that documentary How To Change Your Mind that we decided to do the trip the other night.Dieter wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 7:24 pm I've been hearing about research into psilocybin for treating depression.

It may be a coincidence, but today has been one of the most productive and optimistic days I've had in a long while.

I don't think it is. I find it useful when I'm feeling stuck. Just the same patterns over and over again and I can't seem to improve things. Not much happens the day of, but over the next few days things spontaneously improve. Probably some form of neurogenesis going on or slight rewiring of your usual stimulus/response system. Suddenly you notice a mess you've been ignoring and you have the motivation to deal with it.

Yeah, psychedelics do indeed seem to be amazing.Jack Jones wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 10:43 amI don't think it is. I find it useful when I'm feeling stuck. Wow!
The Michael Pollan documentary, ‘How to Change Your Mind’, is pretty good. (Netflix)

That's some story! Were there any negative aspects to it? There's an increasing amount of published studies on positive benefits very similar to what you're reporting.
Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
Honestly, no real negative impacts that I've been able to discern. The next day I was a little tired, but that was pretty much it.
I had lots of crazy visions and experiences. The most vivid one was sort of in the middle of the trip. I was lying in bed and to my left I saw a portal open. My dad was there. He spoke to me, saying "I'll always be with you." He reached out his hand and I held it for a few moments. Then a bunch of childhood memories with him flashed through my mind's eye: him teaching me how to ride a bike; watching him mow the lawn as a child; and going for a kit kat bar (my childhood favourite) after school.
Super cathartic. I lost an evening of coding productivity, but it was definitely worth it!
I've also decided to take a supplement called N-Acetyl Cysteine, which is also apparently really good for my particular form of anxiety that I experience from time to time. Man, mental health is a complicated beast.
Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
I hope everyone is having a good start to their weekend.
Watching some comedy in Downtown Vancouver tonight.
After to moving to my new residence I've started to play with the idea of cancelling the insurance on my car and not driving pretty much at all. I'm right next to a major train station and bus loop, and I work from home. Why drive?
Saving money on maintenance, insurance, and gas would be a big boon.

A. Where you live does not require some minimum mandatory insurance?
B. Driving without insurance IS financially QUITE dangerous.
I have extremely high liability limits but no coverage for my car except for comprehensive and I pay less than $325 a year.

Yes, I misspoke. It's absolutely required!
My insurance for this last year was $1600. Sigh.

These Starbucks triple shot espresso canned drinks are the bomb. If you need energy for all day coding sessions then this thing is the final boss of caffeinated bevvies. They're also about 1/3 the price of getting the equivalent drink from an actual Starbucks store.

I know one guy who likes it and one woman who promptly got the runs from it.
I haven’t tried it.

Where does 270 mg of caffeine rank with other caffeine laden drinks. I think my only current source of caffeine in my daily food intake is what there is of it in cocoa powder?

My only objection is that thing is loaded with sugar. 30g in only 15oz.Smith1776 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 3:49 pm These Starbucks triple shot espresso canned drinks are the bomb. That's 7 1/4 teaspoons! Plenty of chemistry too. Pyroxidine hydrochloride?
Treat yourself better.
EDIT: It looks like pyroxidine hydrochloride is basically vitamin B6. It's usually administered to anemic people to increase the uptake of energy from food, so it must be one way they're tweaking your body's energy response. Maybe that's not so bad? Either way, it's a good idea to go easy on sugar intake.

Wow, that is indeed a lot of sugar!
Better to make some ginseng tea separately, Smithers.
