Actually that's quite a reasonable definition of "early retirement".  Anyway, that's what I meant.  We will definitely want to know when you hit that point!

There must be a term for financial independence + willfully not retiring. If not, we should coin one.

I'm curious if you're shooting to replace your basic expenses, or basic expenses + seed funding for a venture?  For example, at some point you might want to rent some space or hire an employee.  It seems like there would always be a desire to tap your funds to invest in yourself rather than sell equity.  Or maybe you plan to grow slowly enough that revenue always covers all expenses.

That's what I did last time, and while it worked (I took on no debt, was profitable in a week, and stayed that way until I shut down), I didn't grow fast enough. I anticipate that fundraising of some type will be involved next time.
