Quickbooks is so popular with contractors and businesses that I would be very surprised if Microsoft screwed that up.

I'd not blame Microsoft. I'd blame Intuit / QuickBooks. My organization paid them a fee each year so that I could do our payroll using their software. But the version of their software could nnot be more than three years older otherwise you could not create payroll using QuickBooks. So every three years we had to buy a new version of QuickBooks for everyone using QuickBooks, just not me who was the one creating the payroll.

It's possible (in fact extremely likely) that QuickBooks 2021 will run perfectly fine on Windows 11, regardless of its "certification".

I recently purchased a Playstation 3 off of Facebook Marketplace for $55, and am now playing some vintage games.

This has awakened a bit of an itch to buy some more vintage tech stuff and relive some old memories. I might look for an old Pentium 4 system next.

What browser do you guys use?

I constantly use a variety of browsers.
Microsoft Edge (yes, on a Mac!)
Firefox
Brave

I use all of the above on all of my devices and sometimes Safari on Apple devices.

Brave is currently my fave.

Mostly Safari (in my opinion best blend of security, privacy, stability, system resource load) and I use almost all the time with Nord VPN. Sometimes I'll use Firefox, DuckDuckGo, Edge, and very rarely Chrome - all on a MacBook Pro.

I guess it’s necessary, but I only used it a short while and decided to forswear VPN’s.

I’ve thought about it several times. In the end I trust (somewhat) Nord more than a potential unknown man-in-the-middle snooper. YMMV

Chrome for all Facebook related matter plus weather.com.

Edge for all else.

Firefox for everything, because virtually everything else is the same (Chrome) under the hood, and we need browser engine diversity.

You have stated that before.

However Edge (Microsoft) and Chrome (Alphabet) are behemoth competitors. How was it that Edge is substantially Chrome?

Also, does this also apply to Google / Bing or at they completely different?

Edge is built on Chromium.

Xan, if you wanted to hook up an external CD burner, I guess it’s a few extra steps compared to the mainstream OS’s.
You probably have to find a list of likely compatible burners, and then, what, download a driver?

I used to use it on my iPads. But then it stopped working. I assumed it was because Safari was no longer. Now I am assuming that it that Apple Planned Obsolescence thing wherein Safari now needs a higher operating system that my iPad is not capable of going to? So the one the version of Safari that used to work with it now gets disabled somehow? Unlike the Windows world wherein if a software works with a given Windows operating system it continues to be able to work with that operating system?

Indeed. Your iPad probably became a legacy product and ineligible for software updates at some point. By extension your Safari stopped getting updated and fell behind web standards.

I would install the KDE CD-burning software (k3b) and expect it to just work.

Of what value was there to knowing the answer? Either way I no longer have a working Safari on my iPad when I once did. Now knowing the answer does not allow me to again have a working Safari on the iPad.

Also is my memory correct that I used to have Safari also on my Windows computers? I just went to download it and there does not appear to be a version for Windows operating systems.
