Mississippi Grind & Come and Find Me both good.

The latter's main character was Jesse from Breaking Bad. First and only time I'd seen him in anything else but Breaking Bad.

Evidently they're making a Sopranos prequel movie. It was supposed to come out this year but... you know.

The actor cast as young Tony Soprano is James Gandolfini's IRL son, Michael.

He's got the "looks like a younger version of Tony Soprano" down pat. Hopefully he's a good actor.

Cool. The only thing I knew about him was that he busted an Italian EMT for stealing his dead father's wristwatch.

I'm trying to get into The Witcher on Netflix lately. Apparently it's quite highly acclaimed, and Henry Cavill is pretty awesome.

I've only watched a little bit so far, but it seems to kind of have a GoT vibe to it. Too bad it has no Emilia Clarke.

Just finished The Death of Stalin. If you like your humor dark, this might be a good one. I loved it. The laughs are real, but usually uneasy because the horror is also real. Great job mixing satire with historical reality and one of the very few films to come out of Hollywood that does not romanticize the far left. (Think Reds, Trumbo and etc...) They took some liberties with the order and dates of certain events, but basically got it right and did a good job of portraying the nightmare of Stalinist Russia.

Fun fact: Georgy Zhukov who survived the great purges and the initial disasters of the war on the Eastern Front, to become the leader of the Red Army who crushed Hitler and marched all the way to Berlin over the corpses of 25 million Russians was once asked... what the proudest moment of his life had been. And in a rare unguarded comment replied... "killing Beria."

Tortoise wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2020 5:38 pm Saul is a great show, for sure. But it’s a little too slow of a burn for me. The pacing in Breaking Bad was excellent. I was on the edge of my seat half the time.
Finally finished season 4 the other day. (I know, I’m late to the party.) The pace is finally picking up now! Can’t wait for season 5 to be released on Netflix.

(On a side note, is it a cardinal sin on discussion forums to quote oneself? I almost never see it done.)

I am so crazy about that film! I caught repeats of it during free Showtime last month, but I vividly remember watching it in the theater. Maybe it’s because I remember being lightly bullied by an Asian American guy to make his gf laugh on the way in — my first time! O0

FOOKIN' prawns, man!

It's such a unique movie with just the right mix of the fantastical and that's-totally-how-we'd-actually-treat-aliens.

By the way, bullies suck. Next time that happens, just message all of us and we'll fly over there to help you.

I think District 9 was ruined for me because I watched a pirated copy, and it was just... confusing. It turns out there were supposed to be subtitles. I'll have to remember to watch it again.
