Moral of the story: don't buy precious metals from shady-looking characters advertising on Craigslist.
Human behavior is economic behavior. The particulars may vary, but competition for limited resources remains a constant.

Yes. That and very high risk of robbery when you use Craigslist. Either you are buying gold so they'll know you have a lot of cash. Or you are selling gold so robbers know you have bullion.Pointedstick wrote: Moral of the story: don't buy precious metals from shady-looking characters advertising on Craigslist.![]()
I say again (and in the Gold FAQ and in the book), that you should buy gold only from reputable gold dealers. Do not buy from Craigslist, EBay, etc. It's not worth the risk.

Those are two very naughty Koreans. If they weren't born here, I hope they get deported forthwith.

The prices in that article were below spot. Buying 10 or 12 coins at a time. Clearly the buyers thought they were buying stolen goods. The sellers were relying on the buyers' greed and assuming that they wouldn't ask too many questions.MachineGhost wrote: What kind of moron would even buy gold coins via Craigslist? Words fail me.
