Metrics

Post by AdamA »

Maybe this is a silly topic, but I'm curious...

If you could pick only 3 metrics to look at when picking a stock, what would they be?

I only need two!

* How much will it pay in dividends over the time I own it.
* How much it will be worth when I want to sell it.

1) Does it pay a decent dividend it can afford (pay out ratio)?
2) Does it have a history of regularly increasing dividends?
3) Is it a household name / company I would be shocked went under or is it smoke and mirrors.

How about these:

1.  Small cap
2.  Price-to-book less than 1.
3.  EPS increase of 10%/year over 3 year period.

Also...non-financial (not sure what price-to-book really means for a financial company).
