Why was failed Craker Barrel logo called "woke"?

Post by ochotona »

It was a terrible, depersonalized, emotionless design, and say that even I have only eaten there once, not a repeat customer. But why was it called "woke"? This leads me to believe that "woke" is just a catch-all bin for anything that some people don't like.

It is woke because it endorses DEI:
Dumb
Erroneous
Insensitivity
Do, do, do is never the answer faith demands. Trust, trust, trust is. Live with Jesus, die with Jesus. Stop trying to do something glorious.

I've wondered the same thing. Was it because of getting rid of the old guy in the rocking chair? I don't have any other guess.

I asked Perplexity Pro for an answer regarding this! What I got was an answer with this forum being the sole reference!

"The failed Cracker Barrel logo was called "woke" mainly because it replaced the old logo featuring a traditional image of an old man in a rocking chair with a new depersonalized, emotionless design. Some people interpreted this change as endorsing DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) themes, which often get labeled as "woke" by critics. Others saw the term "woke" used as a broad catch-all for anything disliked, including the removal of the nostalgic rocking chair man figure. The controversial reception stemmed from a sense that the new logo lacked the warmth or identity of the original and was linked by detractors to political or cultural correctness."
Above provided by: Vinny, who always says: "I only regret that I have but one lap to give to my cats." AND "I'm a more-is-more person."

There was much more to it than just the logo.

culture war is gender war. DEI puts women into power.

AI is another trojan horse. The hotmail app moves spam out of your inbox but the web version acts like it cant tell whats spam. You'll read vinny's posts and think human nature isnt evil, but there are people who spend all day spamming with no remorse

Well then, you can't buy from Chevron and Shell, or take Ozempic / Wegovy from Denmark, drive a European car like a Benz or BMW, you can't fly on Airbus, etc etc etc. Your electrical company can't use transformers and components from ABB.

I'd like to see the video of this person showing up for an airline flight and refusing to board because its an airbus and "they want to speak to the manager". Or boycotting electricity because of ABB parts in their grid. Fine, roast in the summer heat in the dark.

It's just all clickbait and eyeballs and selling outrage and you're the project, not the opinion.
