I recently did a tech demo for my local meetup group. I built an e-commerce site using Ruby, and the very first product that was listed for sale on the site was JavaScript.

I wonder if mathjak saw the new WSJ article on Vanguard. (new CEO, army of dissatisfied clients)

I agree that the Vanguard service has gone down hill significantly. Seems like it began with the push to brokerage accounts. I’ve tried for over 3 months, unsuccessfully, to get check writing and checks sent to me for a joint money market account. Absolutely abysmal service.

I’ve been with Vanguard for over ten years, and have also noticed degradation of service. I also have accounts with Schwab and Fidelity, and prefer the service I receive there.

Yup. I was practically born into it. And by the time I was old enough/ allowed to manage my own money, I had their S&P500 fund in a joint account with my Dad as the custodian. And a personal advisor. I’m in my third decade with Vanguard.
Totally gave up on the checks and checkwriting. I had to shelve all my Vanguard checkbooks. I don’t write very many checks anymore anyway. It’s all venmo, Cash and Paypal and eChecks now.

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us
I hope everyone's summer is shaping up nicely.
I finally got around to staining and sealing my deck this season. It was really in need of some TLC, so I made a day-project out of it.
There are some people who are proponents of power washing the deck as part of the prep process, but I was advised that it's not strictly necessary. I started early in the morning with a brush and some specialized deck cleaner. I scrubbed all the crap that had built up over the past few years and then hosed it down.
By dusk I went over it with a roller and brush with the stain and the deck is now a nice golden brown (it was literally grey previously).
Now for a BBQ and some deck furniture.
