iCloud assistance!

Post by yankees60 »

Need assistance from one or more of you Apple users!

I actually own Apple everything (but old) except for their computers.

I have been using an iPad 1 to keep score of my softball games since at least around 2015. Have many seasons / many teams in the app.

I have iCloud Backup turned on.

A short while ago I did Back Up Now

I see the free 5.0 GB Total Storage with 4.6 GB Available.

When I go to Manage Storage I see that this particular iPad has 354.5 MB being backed up.

I see that I have 7 apps being backed up. The only one I really care about - the softball game scoring app - is one of them. 58,8 MB.

All looks good so far.

I am logged into my iCloud account.

This is what I see:

Questions:

1) Why does it say 0 Devices?

2) It does not seem possible to see what is in the 403.8 MB being stored?

3) If this iPad died and I wanted to move that 58,8 MB to one of my numerous other iPads .... How do I do it? I go to Data Recovery and it reads: "Recover files deleted from both iCloud Drive and other apps within the last 30 days", That seems to imply it is only used to recover files you have deleted? Not to restore as a backup.

I will wait to ask more questions once I get some answers to the above.

Finally, iCloud asked me if I wanted to install the iCloud app for Windows on this computer. I've twice attempted to do so but both times it has been on an endless "Retrieving information from the Microsoft Store".

Finally, finally with another iPad 1 I used to be able to do a full backup of it via iTunes. Now it seems that the current version of iTunes no longer recognizes the limited operating system of an iPad 1 so it cannot back it up? It actually offered to reset my iPad!!! Which is the absolute last thing I'd want to do with it.

What other backup options do I have wherein I can restore that backup to either it or another iPad? My computer did recognize it but I'm thinking that making a copy of what is shows is probably not going to be of value in a restore mission?
Above provided by: Vinny, who always says: "I only regret that I have but one lap to give to my cats." AND "I'm a more-is-more person."
