:'(
FWIW,
My wife and I managed to avoid getting COVID-19 since it first reared its nasty head approaching 4 years ago. We are both fully vaccinated and boosted. She tested positive this past Thursday morning; felt really bad Friday - massive headache, cough, congestion. I tested positive this morning - extremely runny nose, sneezing, congestion. We haven’t knowingly been around anyone with symptoms and haven’t been out and about much in the last couple weeks.

Good luck everyone. Blessings that you avoid getting sick.

Get well soon, Sir! Here the cases started to increase too. What they say is a common symptom - eyes inflammation.

Thanks Vil. Hadn’t heard about the eye inflammation. We are both feeling a little better today. Stay well!

I'm headed to my first meetup tonight in my new city of Edmonton for software development. Apparently there's a joint Bitcoin meetup held at the same time and in the same coffee shop.

I've been to this coffeeshop before. A place called Felice. If the meetup turns out to be a dud, I'm still going to have some of the best coffee in the city. O0

Like a dating meetup? I’ve only been to meetups for teaching English by way of conversation.

Cool!

Yeah, kind of like dating meetups for singles, except this one is like a tech thing. I'm not sure if it's just a free for all or if there's a presentation/tutorial of some kind. I'll bring my laptop just in case.

Four days later what is the current update for each of you?

Someone has been staying at my house since July 4, 2022 ... so for about 15 months now.

He sleeps in a bedroom whose door is separated by about six feet from my bedroom door.

He contracted Covid the week before last plus in June.

I've still not. I attribute that to my lifestyle wherein other than music or sports I'm by myself, away from people.

You might think that I have been exposed to the person who has been staying at my house but he leaves the house for his job around 5 AM and then does not come into the house until around 9 PM and straight to the bedroom to sleep. He spends little other time in the house so there can be many days (several in a row) wherein I don't see him at all. Last week when he was forced to stay out of work he sat outside with me for us to talk for a while but we were outside and separated by at least six feet.

So either I have completely never got it or I have but with no symptoms.

My understanding is that most people, something like 80-90% or more, aren't "spreaders" for whatever reason. So if you only got into contact with one person who had it, you're likely to be fine.

Both of us are improving; all in all, not too bad for us. No hospital visits! My wife's case was much like the flu - major head and body aches for a day or two, fever, tired. Mine was more like a cold, sneezing and runny nose. The main lingering effects for both of us are tiredness, low energy. As for the person in the house with you, I'd say your risk of exposure depends on how well your house is ventilated in addition to how close you are to the person: windows open much of the time, or closed with heat or AC on much of the time?

Great to hear!

Someone I know who is about 81 years old has been dealing with the effects of long-term covid. Seems that, fortunately, both of you escaped that.

The Arnold book is really good.

If it's at your local library, I highly recommend you check it out.

Based upon that recommendation if I see it there I will do so.

I was at my local library yesterday and was shocked to see the Elon Musk book which I grabbed (along with about 9 others).

I'm sure you must be in a much larger population than me?

The library is in an unincorporated village and census-designated place in my town. Its population is 4,500 over 2.3 square miles.

That'd be how many floors of people in one building in New York City!!!???

Now that I know what its population is the following is even more surprising to me. While I was waiting for the book to be checked out I saw that there was s survey to fill out. After I filled it out and turned it in I asked how many they'd received. I was shocked when they told me 200. I responded by saying that was a lot for a town that size. Until now I did not know its exact population.
