What I find is strange is how much of a mountain was made out of this. They had some parties while the country was locked down and he hired a person that was not vetted properly. Another dumb mistake. No funneling weapons to rogue states, war crimes, cash transfers, bribes. Just some parties and a hiring mistake.
The party thing is pretty ugly in the context of mandated lockdowns.

Maybe the British public's integrity standards are higher than the American public's, especially when it comes to their leader repeatedly lying.

FWIW, I think there is more to the story than some parties and a hiring mistake. In the past three days 28 MPs have resigned in protest from Johnson's government among them chancellor of the Exchequer and Health Minister. And many of the still seated ministers publicly called for his resignation. After some tipping point it becomes impossible for a leader to regain confidence and effectively run a government.

Yeah it probably is a case where there is alot of smoke there is probably a raging fire. Johnson and Cameron were members of a club at Oxford called the Bullingdon club. The dining club is comprised of very wealthy and privileged kids. They are noted for going out to dinner and then promptly destroying the restaurant then paying for the damages on the spot. Just having a spot of fun.

Johnson lost his party which in the UK system means he lost his job...in the UK press the conservative insiders were saying they don't trust a thing he says anymore. Good politicians know how to count noses and I'm guessing Johnson knew he had a choice between getting kicked out immediately in disgrace or going out with some face saved.

Crazy. It's like in In the Line of Fire except without Clint Eastwood, right down to the homemade gun. As Kennedy said, "All a man needs is a willingness to trade his life for mine."

However it fell far short for all the multiple attempts to kill Hitler.

It seems from reading many of the recent posts on several threads that a lot of people have lost faith in the government. What's next? Apathy, escapism, fix it, revolution, bend over and take one for the Gipper, bitch more, put your faith in something that is everlasting, something else, ....... ?

Just my humble opinion:

Im thinking a red wave because most Americans cannot afford a house, invest money safely, save any money (inflation), send their kids to an affordable college, do not have more than a tiny amount saved for retirement (I've heard 40k), pension funds close to collapse, etc, etc...But the Roe v. Wade being overturned thing could be a monkey wrench in the red wave.

And there are a few pro-life women.

A poll asked if I'd be ok with my CA tax dollars being used to bring women here for abortions. I said sure, grind em up we need stem cells.

Newsom spent $100,000 on DeSantis' opponent, instead of using that money to help Californians

And don't forget the greatest inside trader of them all Paul Pelosi. The dems are having a "let them eat cake" moment right before they get sent off to the guillotine.
